While we're on the way

1

Get everyone out from under the leak

If water's dripping through a ceiling, move your family and pets to a dry room. A soaked ceiling can hold pounds of water and let go all at once. Don't stand under a bulging spot.

2

Catch the water and protect your stuff

Slide buckets or a trash can under the drip. Pull furniture, rugs, and electronics away from the wet area. Lay down towels so the floor doesn't warp.

3

Relieve a bulging ceiling

If the drywall is sagging and full of water, poke a small hole in the low point with a screwdriver and let it drain into a bucket. It sounds crazy, but a controlled hole beats the whole ceiling coming down.

4

Cut the power to that area

If water is anywhere near light fixtures, ceiling fans, or outlets, flip the breaker for that room. Water and wiring don't mix.

5

Stay off the roof

Wet shingles and storm debris are how people fall. Snap a few photos from the ground for your records and leave the climbing to us.

When our roofer pulls up, the first job is stopping the water. That usually means a tarp-over across the damaged section, anchored down so wind and rain can't peel it back. Then we find where the water's actually getting in, which is often feet away from where it shows up on your ceiling. We check the shingles, the flashing around chimneys and skylights, and the valleys where water likes to pool.

Some things can't wait. An active leak, a tree limb through the roof, missing shingles with rain in the forecast, or a section peeled up after a storm all need same-day attention. Other stuff can be scheduled: a couple of curled shingles, a small gutter sag, or a slow drip you've watched for months without change. When you call, tell us what you're seeing and we'll be straight with you about which one you've got.

We work all over the St. Louis area, from The Hill and Soulard to Kirkwood, Ferguson, Chesterfield, and Florissant. After a hail or wind storm, whole neighborhoods call at once, so the sooner you reach us the sooner we can slot you in. If you're filing an insurance claim, we'll document the damage with photos and notes while we're up there so you have what the adjuster needs.

One honest thing: your safety comes first. Please don't climb up in the rain, at night, or when there's lightning around. A tarp and a bucket will hold things until we get there. Call us, keep everyone clear of the water, and let a roofer handle the rest.
